Litchfield Park road
The project
Advance Civil Engineering was awarded the contract to replace the Lower Finnis River Bridge on Litchfeild Park Road as part of an urgent repairs tender to provide road train access to stakeholders in the area.
the project involved the removal of the existing steel superstructure of the bridge and replacement with precast concrete deck panels. The design of the works and the methodology was developed to expidite on site works so that the crossing was closed for the shortest period of time.
Scope of works:
- Creation and implementation of a TMP and WHS Plan.
- Pre-cast 40Mpa reinforced concrete deck panels were fabricated at the ACE fabrication yard in Holtze.
- Advance closed the road utilising 2 VMS for 2 days before and during the road closure.
- Advance removed and disposed of the existing steel bridge deck, including cutting out concrete infill at Abutment one.
- Prepared abutment and place mortar/bearing pads.
- Placed precast panels on bearing surface.
- Secured precast panels with hold down bolts.
- Provided formwork and place reinforcement for “closing joint”.
- Pour 32Mpa concrete “closing joint” strip.
